I have pretty much entirely rewritten the article. Everything I have written is based mostly on Marañón's book which I own. I have left a couple of unsourced paragraphs because I have no reason to doubt them but I have removed most of the rest because there were glaring errors in dates, etc. The reference to Pope Clement VIII was erroneous and I have put the correct names of the popes involved.
