Cleanup suggestions[edit]

Some suggestions for cleanup include:

  • Remove the external link in the intro sentence and move it to the External links section. Format the name of the org per WP:MOS, in bold.
  • Change inline refs to use the <ref> and </noref> tags, with each text in the References section moved to the appropriate place in the main bid. Add a {{reflist}} template to the References setcion. See WP:SITE.
  • Remove the multiple occurrences of EMSL being linked to its website. That is overlinking and discouraged per WP:MOS.
  • Use bullet lists (WP:MOS describes how) instead of spacing the lines in the lists.
  • Remove the __NOTOC__ tag and allow the TOC to appear per WP:TOC

These, and perhaps other edits, would help improve this article and make it more similar to other Wikipedia articles, thus making it easier for our readers to read, understand and ind desired information. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 01:50, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Suggestions[edit]

The article formatting was cleaned up as suggested for the most part. Although the references were put into the suggested format, this causes duplicate references to be listed. I was unable to find a way to prevent this. --Shanilea (talk) 20:34, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job! I did a little more cleanup and removed the cleanup tag. The article looks good. Like all articles, it can always get better. Notice that the duplicate refs have been combined using named refs. Happy editing. Truthanado (talk) 00:39, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grand Challenges[edit]

The article says what the purpose of “Grand Challenges” is, but it gives no clue what they are. Is a “Grand Challenge” a contest, a symposium, a research project, or what? —teb728 t c 23:01, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Electron spectrometer.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Electron spectrometer.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Is this neutral or encyclopedic?[edit]

This reads like a promotional website. I think it needs solid reworking to give useful information about the EMSF, like specific developments it's been responsible for, instead of being something Human Resources might send out to potential new hires. Perciv (talk) 17:44, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
