More Information?[edit]

Does anyone have more information on Ernest Medina? Date and place of birth? Where he is now and what transpired to him after seperation from the Army? --TGC55 05:31, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Medina left the army to move to Menomee, Michigan, where he worked in a helicopter manufacturing company owned by the defense lawyer in his court-martial, F. Lee Bailey. (From http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/mylai/myl_bmedi.html)

I'd be interested in the details of his military career before My Lai as well. David Hackworth said he'd briefly met him before he'd gone to OCS, but as much as I miss the late, great COL Hackworth, not everything he ever said was true.WiseguyThreeOne (talk) 02:13, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The account of the trial is fundamentally confused. It is stated that he was charged with "willingly allowing his men to murder My Lai noncombatants". Medina denied those charges - and apparently "claimed that he never gave any orders to kill Vietnamese noncombatants". That is an entirely different matter. He may not have given orders, but he wasn't charged with giving orders, he was charged with failing to stop the massacre.203.184.41.226 (talk) 05:28, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Worst bit of history is that he has a statute named after him for his defense and then he later admits to the war-crimes. Its really a shame that that standard wasn't rolled back or dropped history all together. According to the My Lai article he even killed civilians himself.
