This article's title is WAY too general... it's like creating an article about Keanu Reeves, but titling it "Actor."[edit]

There's no Esso stations in the US anymore, but there's many, many of them elsewhere.

I also feel like there's a question of notability. This is an entire Wikipedia article dedicated to a single gas station that once existed in a small town in Arkansas. There's a mention of its architectural style, but really no further detail, and no photo. And it was torn down years ago. Ormewood (talk) 16:37, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Results of AfD Discussion[edit]

This was listed as an article for deletion. The consensus was to keep the article, but several things need to happen for this article to be viable.

  1. The title cannot be left as is. Please note proposals below.
  2. The article needs meat. There has gt to be NRHP documentation for this building. Someone with access may be able to help us improve this article.
  3. The article needs a picture or other graphic other than a simple physical description of the structure. Perhaps a local editor may be able to secure that from a museum or library in the area?

Please help us improve the article and make it an asset to Wikipedia. Cheers, Last1in (talk) 20:55, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Proposal: Piggott Esso Station

I can't think of anything better and am hoping other editors might have suggestions? Last1in (talk) 20:55, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There are a number of articles of the scheme "Esso Station (Piggott)", see here, but all of them are redirects. Thus I agree that Piggott Esso Station is the best name, especially because there are no other places named Piggott currently in Wikipedia. --Cyfal (talk) 09:53, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some days later, I changed my mind: I think "Esso Station (Piggott)" is indeed a better title. This will allow us easily to integrate this article in a disambiguation where we can add all other Esso stations. Also, the name according to the National Register of Historic Places is "Esso Station", not "Piggott Esso Station". I will perform the move and the creation of the disambig page in some days if there is no objection. --Cyfal (talk) 17:29, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Love it and thank you. Last1in (talk) 23:36, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Moved to Esso Station (Piggott) and created Esso Station as disambig as announced. --Cyfal (talk) 19:53, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion for Improvement & Graphics[edit]

I only find two local museums, which is disappointing, but is a great place to start if anyone wants to do some offline sleuthing. Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (tel: +1-870-598-3487) and Karl Pfeiffer Museum (+1-870-598-3228). Other avenues might be the City Hall or the Clay County offices. If you edit this page, you might have contacts in teh area who could do outreach? Anything anyone can find with a WP:RS would would help. Last1in (talk) 20:55, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a picture which Colinhester has uploaded, however it was taken after the demolition. --Cyfal (talk) 20:03, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
