Merger[edit]

The result of this discussion was not to merge. The scope and nature of the two articles are different. Nug (talk) 01:06, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Duchy of Estonia (1561–1721) and Estonia under Swedish rule cover the same time and place. Nothing is gained by having separate articles. The list at Duchy of Estonia (1561–1721)#Head of Dominion should be refactored into a new page called, say, List of governors of Swedish Estonia, or whatever other name you prefer. The rest of that article should be merged with the other one, at whatever article name you prefer. jnestorius(talk) 17:15, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, the article about the duchy is about an admnistrative part of the Swedish realm, this is about a period in history which was not confined to the area covered by the Duchy. Yakikaki (talk) 18:53, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Although neither article is particularly large and a merged article would not be unwieldy (cf. Danish Estonia), their scope and nature are different. As this article notes, "Present-day Estonia consists of [both] the Duchy of Estonia and parts of Swedish Livonia". And Estonia under Swedish rule is a history narrative while Duchy of Estonia (1561–1721) is an exposition of a polity. —  AjaxSmack  00:15, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gustavus Adolphus[edit]

King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden, in english known as Gustavus Adolphus, should be refered to as such. The name Gustavus II Adolphus has no factual basis, as he has been both historically, and is currently known as Gustavus Adolphus. SO STOP CHANGING HIS NAME CarlsSston (talk) 19:46, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
