flawed logic let alone facts[edit]

"He was one of those responsible for the Nazi German scientific theories of racial hygiene that legitimized the extermination of Jews, sent an estimated half a million Gypsies to their deaths..." That statement is a non-sequitur. Without going into the controversial question, whether any racially motivated exterminations occured at all. How did the theories of Fischer and co. legitimize the killing of anyone? To my knowledge they didn't, but perhaps someone has a documentary find that points in another direction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.17.186.102 (talk) 16:54, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

external link[edit]

The second external link seems to be nothing else then anti-German propaganda. I suggest removal or at least a comment on this. --41.15.102.200 (talk) 16:45, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but history is history. Do you think that German citizens harmed by the National Socialists agree with you? Some external links along these lines would be appreciated. Virago250 (talk) 15:25, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fischer in Africa?[edit]

The article talks about "experiments" in african prison camps carried out by Eugen Fischer. "As a precursor to his experiments on Jews in Nazi Germany, he also did medical experimentation on African prisoners of war in concentration camps in Namibia that has been referred to as genocide". Though Fischer was in German South-west Africa at the time, there are no facts stating that he took part in these experiments - he was "researching" the rehoboth people for their "mixed heritage". Though he was clearly racist and later became a member of the nazi pary, the inhumane experimenting seems to have been carried out by another doctor, dr Bofinger, of whom we know very little. (See for example Ousuga & Erichsen, The Kaiser's Holocaust, pp 225-26) If there is any evidence that Fischer took part in these experiments, it would be extremely intresting to know the sources! There are no indications that Fischer took part in "experiments on jews" in Germany (other than skull-measuring and the like). Again, if there are any sources for this claim, they would be of great value!

Se also the article on the Herero and Nama genocide, where the same statements are repeated.

Yet, Fischer did publish "The Rehoboth Bastards and the Problem of Miscegenation among Humans (1913)", and Rehoboth remains in Africa. Your problem is with history. If your claim is that Fischer published sans experimental evidence of his own (ie: hearsay), please present your facts.Virago250 (talk) 15:16, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

==i'm not sure what you mean by me having a problem with history, if you do not think that I am defending Fischer in some way, which I am not... He was a nazi and a quack. But his book on rehoboth, which I have here,is a study of the "mixed" emigrant comminity in Rehoboth, full of made-up "findings" but not with any traces of medical experiments being made on humans... That did happen in the german koncentration camps in today's Namibia, but Fischer doesn't seem to have been part of that. But if he was, I would be grateful for some hard facts in the case. That would be important piece in the studies into the evil that was eugenics. OL, Sweden — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.243.123.124 (talk) 09:09, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Relatives[edit]

Was Eugen Fischer related to either Gustav Fischer, explorer in Africa, or to another Gustav Fischer, his publisher? Itsmejudith (talk) 09:31, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Postwar Controversy[edit]

This comment ignores the fact that the German Red Cross was led by a fanatical nazi, and that the Euthanasia personnel (Action T-4) later became the lead murderers in the Holocaust (Action Reinhardt).74.239.209.92 (talk) 10:28, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem[edit]

I'm afraid that this article has been heavily edited by a contributor who is the subject of a contributor copyright investigation because of his copying from external sources (including print). (The specific investigation is here.) While it is common in such cases to revert to the last clean version of an article, that would put this one in fairly bad shape, as the last version before the guy started editing the article is this: [1]

It would be great if interested editors can help repair this issue. Content that was added by other editors than Virago250 can certainly be retained, as long as it does not build on or modify material he added (since doing so can create a derivative work). The article should be visited after about a week by an administrator addressing copyright problems listings. If anyone is up for rewriting the article in the temporary subpage dedicated to that purpose, it would be much appreciated! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:30, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is going to be a nightmare. I wish we had known before that the text edited by Virago250 was a copyvio. Itsmejudith (talk) 19:01, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry. :( I wonder if there's any way that we can get a bot to flag talk pages to let people know when the article is part of a pending CCI. I'm not remotely botty, but I'll ask around. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:14, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

After the war?[edit]

I take it he was never tried for any war crimes but it's curious that there is absolutely nothing about what became of him or what he did for 20+ years after the end of the war. 160.111.254.17 (talk) 20:30, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
