- add a few lines about EADI mission (to ensure quality of research and education in Development Studies, facilitate interdisciplinary studies on topics related to global development; promote the exchange of information among members, academics, researchers and other actors; fortify knowledge networks at different scales and build ties with researchers globally; and also shape both national and European decision-making in the development cooperation sector)

- add a few sentences about EADI member institutions (There are over 100 institutional members spread throughout Europe. The members differ in their type (universities, university departments, independent research institutes, NGOs, think tanks, national scientific organisations) size and thematic specialisation. Some offer targeted degrees in Development Studies, while others conduct research on development issues.)

- add a few lines about EADI working groups (There are 16 interdisciplinary working groups. The EADI Working Groups cover a range of diverse topics and provide fora across Europe for reflection and discussion of development studies and training as well as platforms for launching and elaborating development research and publications . Some of the topics the Working Groups cover include: Frugal Innovation and Development, Post- and Decolonial Perspectives on Development, Research Communication, and the EU as a Development Actor)

- a short paragraph about the General Conference (The EADI general conference has been held every three years in partnership with a member institute since 1975. It is a major event for the international Development Studies community and is a platform for debate, networking, and research. Each conference has a theme which are pertinent to development studies. Previous themes of the General Conference have been “Solidarity, Peace and Social Justice” and “Globalisation at the Crossroads: Rethinking Inequalities and Boundaries .”)

- insert a short paragraph about EADI’s role in the accreditation of new Development Studies programmes (Following the harmonisation processes in European higher education in the 90’s, EADI set out to develop a framework for accreditation and quality assurance that would capture the multidisciplinary quality of Development Studies and help to standardise study programmes. For this purpose, the InaternationalInternational Accreditation Council (IAC) was created in 2011. The goal is to maintain the quality of Ddevelopment Sstudies training programmes in the Global North and South. The council is a member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education . Using nine accreditation criteria, the IAC, operating in cooperation with the EADI Secretariat, offers voluntary external quality assurance to study programmes that cannot acquire this through a national agency, or those programmes that wish to augment their national accreditation with an international quality certification . The quality assurance standards applied align with those determined by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education ENQA.)

Reason for the change: The sources that are cited are not accessible or no longer accurate. The addition of a few paragraphs regarding the organisation's axes of work in the vein of this Wikipedia article [[1]] would make the information more complete.

Updates to the article[edit]

This article is outdated and could use some improvement. I am aware that as an employee of EADI I might have some conflict of interest, but I will do my best to hew to the Wikipedia guidelines as I add change and rely on the experience of other Wikipedia editors to evaluate my contributions. I previously posted on this talk page from an account that I have now retired, as I prefer to use this one.

I tried to make some changes to the article already, but several of my edits were reverted. I would like to propose a few updates to the page for accuracy. Some links on the page are dead, and some facts in the article no longer valid. If I need to create an Edit request, I am happy to do this. --Sarhanarf (talk) 10:41, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Improving the article[edit]

The article has been marked as „may need to be wikified to meet Wikipedia's quality standards“. I am both experienced Wikipedia author (mainly of the German Wikipedia) and an employee of EADI, and I will work to improve the article in the next days. To keep possible conflicts as small as possible, I will translate parts of the German article (written by someone else) and will also try to follow Wikipedia’s quality standards as close as possible.
