Conflicts of interest[edit]

Motivation

I am an experienced European medical physicist, who wants to introduce his profession in its most important aspects to the public on Wikipedia. Only few articles currently exists in this field. To deal with this, I recently started to write articles. I'm fascinated by the links in an applied scientific discipline like medical physics: inventions are linked to scientists, students are linked to training and certification facilities, employees are linked to academic sites and professional organization, customers and public are linked to all of them... These relationships and the encyclopedic content can perfectly be explained on Wikipedia.

From this consideration, the idea was born to start with the definition of some condensation nuclei for the creation of a knowledge and link network about medical physics. The perfect European nucleus is EFOMP, the umbrella for almost all medical physics organizations. This article shall also be a starting sign for a possible Wikipedia campaign. I'm going to encourage colleagues to contribute.

Conflicts of interest

I have no direct external relationship to EFOMP, except that I am an individual member (one of ~9000) in two of its national member organizations. Nevertheless, it was challenging to collect encyclopedic facts, knowledge and references about my topic completely on my own. Therefore, I agreed with representatives from the EFOMP board and organization that they support me by providing and maintaining details on request. By the way, these representatives are elected officials and voluntary workers.

Defense of content[edit]

Restoration of national member organisations (NMOs) EFOMP is the umbrella for these NMOs. Their founding and affiliation dates are relevant information from an encyclopedic point of view to understand the historic development of the federation. See also: IOMP

Restoration of co-operations

One important focus of a federation is establishing a network of stakeholders. To mention this in a Wikipedia article is not a promotion action, but creates transparency and is also relevant from an encyclopedic point of view to understand the historic development of EFOMP and its relationships.

Restoration of science

Medical physics is an academic dicipline. Therefore, science is one of the three main topics of EFOMP. The other two are education and European affairs. See also ESR.
