Problems in Career Section

The sequence of events at the start of the career section seems to be slightly off. In the 1990s, young LDS men in the United States typically started their missions at age 19, not after completing college. Also, none of the sources sited said when he completed his misssion, just that he served in Brazil.. Similarly, there's no mention of when he worked as a Volunteer Refugee Resettlement Officer in any of the cited sources. The timeframe of his BYU attendance listed on his Linkedin account seems to support him going on his mission before college, and explicitly shows his UN time to be during or just after. --Dragonfirerich (talk) 01:08, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

CIA

I'm not wanting to sound like a conspiracy theorist here but how does one verify a claim that someone was a covert officer. Does he show 'spy' as profession on his tax return? Show pay stubs from 'Universal Import/Export'?

It would seem that revealing this past even several years later could put contacts at risk. Here's this guy with his face all over the news. Adoption Rights

Does the encouragement of "adoption, even if they may have different opinions on abortion rights" indicate that McMullin supports adoptions by gay couples and singles? Typo

Under the section of political stances it says: "He supports tax border security and tax reform." Shouldn't it just be "border security" instead of "tax border security"?

His mother is queer?

The problem was not the wording. The problem was the addition of a completely irrelevant and gratuitous detail, which I have now removed. The subject of the article is Evan McMullin, not his parents and their private lives. McMullin's mother marrying a woman should not be mentioned in a section about McMullin's personal life because that is a fact about her personal life and has nothing to do with his personal life. They do not warrant mention in a section about his personal life. Someone using something McMullin's mother did to attack him is not a fact about McMullin's personal life. Smear robocalls

Smear robocalls in Utah from a white nationalist have received widespread publicity, actually dominating the news cycle for a couple of days. Should we include? See this article and numerous others. Even though he is a public figure I would like to see consensus here before adding, and I think BLP mandates caution and an overwhelming consensus in such situations. Bio

I am having a hard time accepting this:

"A quick comparative average of the 134.5 million voters who voted in the 2016 United States of America presidential elections results in 2.55 million people having voted for Evan McMullin."

There is absolutely no basis for that number other than the simplistic math used by the author. I think it should be removed until further data is provided/available. JohnAKeith (talk) 19:49, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Council on Foreign Relations

I would like to get rid of the part saying McMullin is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. The CFR boasts nearly 5,000 members, making membership alone not that notable. Recent vandalism

A vandal got into an edit war with trusted WP editors, editing this article. This individual reverted 3 editors sequentially, within minutes. Mobile IP vandal will not stop attacking this article

The mobile IP vandal using profane edits against Evan McMullin is back.The attacks on this page seem to have started in mid-April of this year, (they and their "undo" edits just disappeared from the History page) with a "handoff" to another IP address during the first attack. I am startled to notice that the record of this profane early vandalism and its reversal (its vocabulary is recognizable, but bots did not find it, that I remember) has been expunged from the History page as of today (in the last 20 minutes). We need an admin to stop this mobile IP vandal, but with the blanking of the vandal's several earlier edits, this may be a challenge. The vandal has posted on other pages, including possibly one constructive edit under an IP containing "3" or "13") in its first characters, but definitely 90% unconstructive, and 100% unconstructive and profane re Evan McMullin. New infobox image

Left-wing editors like 'Neutrality' won't allow this content and have locked me out, but in Spring, 2022, McMullin confirmed on MSNBC with Mehdi Hasan that he does not support the overturning of Roe v. This article is poorly sourced. I have counted no fewer than 15 claims that need evidentiary substantiation, but this is lacking here. Also, many of these claims read as internal dialogue and motivation rather than a reporting of facts. For instance, it is claimed that McMullin ran against HRC in 2016 because of the latter's liberalism, but if so that needs to be sourced; otherwise it remains unsupported conjecture. 96.43.243.46 (talk) 01:11, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
