Jewish?[edit]

Is Spiegel Jewish? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.138.83.10 (talk) 15:49, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

His family name is Jewish. He is probably of Jewish origins, at least. Pipo.
The surname "Spiegel" can easily be of non-Jewish origin. And indeed, Evan Spiegel is not of Jewish ancestry. His grandfather was lawyer Hunter Hart Spiegel, and his Spiegel line can be traced back to Evan's great-great-grandparents, Johannes Spiegel and Christina Birk, who were non-Jewish Germans, and then many generations beyond that. Controversy - 2017

A shocking revelation by a former employee of Snapchat has put the company's CEO - Evan Spiegel in talk. In a lawsuit filed in LA District Court, Anthony Pompliano who was a former employee with Snapchat has alleged that the Snapchat CEO Even Speigel, had called India 'a poor country'. And allegedly said that his company had no intentions of expanding its base in poor countries like India as the app is only for rich people. The statement has sparked a row in India where a lot of miffed users have uninstalled the app and are urging others to do the same.

Almost 24 hours after the news broke out that Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel did not want to expand in poor countries such as India and Spain, its rating on the App Store dropped to a "single star” from “five stars", reported IANS. Users in India have been so miffed with this statement that #UninstalSnapchat and #BoycottSnapchat started trending on Twitter.

As on April 16, the "Customer Ratings" of the current version of the app on the App Store was "single star" (based on 6,099 ratings) and all versions rating was "one and half star" (based on 9,527 ratings). R886648 (talk) 14:17, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Addition to "Controversy" section:

As a result of the publication of this comment, Indian users resorted to a boycotting of Snapchat. By the afternoon of April 16, 2017, the app's ratings had dropped to a mere 1.5 stars on Apple's App Store. Informer1234 (talk) 20:43, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Evan Spiegel[edit]

The description makes no mention of how Spiegel conspired with Bobby Murphy, who wasn’t even one of the two initial co-founders Spiegel and Reggie Brown (??), to give Brown zero equity in the company. Whatever Brown eventually sued them for he never received any equity.

The scandal over Spiegel’s misogyny and the betrayal of trust that clearly occurred with Brown are linked to any objective description of Spiegel’s personality. 2003:E3:BF3E:B680:DA5:888A:D237:7B28 (talk) 14:48, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
