Even As We Speak recorded an acoustic guitar-based cover version of New Order's synthpop hit Bizarre Love Triangle, some time before another Australian band, Frente!, released a similar cover of the same song, with much more success. While Even As We Speak respected Frente!'s right to record the version, Mary in particular was pretty annoyed by the sequence of events that lead to Frente!'s success with the song. Mary had met with Angie Hart at a dinner shortly after the EAWS version was released and Angie enthused long & hard about how much she loved it. Years later Frente! released a very similar version but denied having ever heard the EAWS version.

English early music expert Stevie Wishart plays hurdy-gurdy and violin on one of the BBC sessions from 1993. Australian underground music legend Louise Elliot from the group The Laughing Clowns plays saxophone on the track 'Let it Shine' and '(All You Need Is) Air' recorded in session at the BBC and under the Gatwick Airport flightpath for Sarah

The band almost conned Feargal Sharkey into signing them to Polydor during a major label A and R assault on London in 1993. After hearing the single 'Falling Down the Stairs', Feargal exclaimed 'ahh.. so you've got compressors in your part of the world!!!' Thereafter followed a failed attempt at a photo with Feargal which was to be captioned 'Feargal Pop Frenzy'

In 1993, British supergroup Boyracer bought Even As We Speak's well used, but trusty Ford Transit Van on the bands' return to Australia. It broke down immediately afterwards.
