For each person who contributed to the album, should I include what tracks they worked on, just like what I've done for Andrew McMahon? -Jordan S 01:49, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I converted the personnel section according to the guidelines of Wikipedia:Wikiproject Albums. HarryCane 13:49, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

POV on reception[edit]

I've removed the line "The album was received well and people of all ages enjoyed." since it is uncited and clearly POV. If someone would like to add some sources on its reception (ie find reviews etc), they could add information about that, but not as this sentence stands. Will get to this in the coming days. Disc Wheel (T + C) 13:32, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Loved JM, listened to the album on repeat while reading it haha. Glad to see you put time into making this article great. It was on my list of prospective things to do at some point.

Recommended changes by section

Background

  • "—2000's Ready... Break, 2002's Leaving Through the Window and 2003's North" - Remove. This is superfluous information and someone can read that on the something corporate page or Andrew's page, saying three albums here is enough.
  • "in March and April 2004[5].." Move the citation to the end of the sentence, there needs some sort of punctuation to have an in line citation

" titled Jack's Mannequin[7]" - same as above

  • "McMahon threw himself into the project, claiming he worked harder on it than he did with Something Corporate." - I'd cite this claim

Production

  • "Lee was brought in[21] and" same as above, end of the sentence
  • "He approached major label Maverick Records[24] three quarter" - same as above
  • " process[26]—"La La Lie" and "Into the Airwaves".[18]" change the dash to a ":" and you can keep the citation there, otherwise move the citation to the end of the sentence
  • " recording was apparently finished in December" would use reportedly instead of apparently, sounds a little more encyclopedic

Composition

  • "Everything in Transit is a concept album that details McMahon's return to his hometown, which he left to pursue a career in music." - would cite this
  • "The material was written during a dark period of self-exploration in McMahon's life, following Something Corporate's hiatus[29] and the ending of a long relationship[2] with Kelly Hansch caused in part by his career pursuit." --> change to "McMahon wrote the material during a dark period of self-exploration in his life impacted by Something Corporate's hiatus and the ending of a long relationship with Kelly Hansch caused in part by his career pursuit.[2][29]"
  • A sentence or two later: "The material was written during a dark period of self-exploration in McMahon's life, following Something Corporate's hiatus and the end of his relationship.[29]" - remove this
  • "classed as pop rock[1][34][35] and power pop,[36]" - move those three refs to the comma where [36] is
  • "After partially reconnecting with Southern California he used the landscape's sounds" - comma after Southern California
  • "ing viewed as a visitor in his own world[2] against the backdrop of Los Angeles.[40]" - move [2] to the end
  • ""Dark Blue" was written on a college campus stage[44] and was the track on the release that had the most similarity to Something Corporate;[42] it became the last song recorded for the album." --> a couple of things here, I'd reword this as the "and was the track on the release" is kind of awkward here. cite that it was the last song recorded. Also is it possible to tell what college campus it was? Not a big deal if not

Release

  • "Around this time, McMahon started feeling sick while on tour,[24] suffering from chronic fatigue[54] and laryngitis." -- [54] to the end of the sentence
  • "The transplant gave him a new immune system.[19]" As far as I'm aware this is not an accurate statement scientifically, say "revitalized his" instead of "gave him a new"
  • "was filmed for "The Mixed Tape"[22] with director Jay Martin.[66] " - move 22 to the end

Reception and legacy

  • " frenzy".[39] Despite" . goes before the " mark, you've been doing that in the prose before this section, so let's stay consistent
  • "out of the ordinary", " , goes before the " mark

"s "mature, studied, delicate, and memorable", " same as above "infectious". " . goes before the " mark

Track listing

  • You may know this better than me, but I have Lonely for Her & Last Straw as one of the bonus tracks 12 & 13 for a particular release in my iTunes - I also may have grabbed Last Straw from another special edition release, but I believe Lonely for Her was an iTunes bonus. What did you uncover when researching the album?
Just added "Lonely for Her", go figure. Interesting little thing I discovered: the original track listing before it got pushed back, which included "Lonely" as track 5 and had "La La Lie" as a closing track. Yeepsi (talk) 14:58, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Yeepsi:Not seeing that you added it to the bonus section as #12? Will pass once I see that, good work Disc Wheel (T + C) 15:04, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops! Added now. Yeepsi (talk) 15:05, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Yeepsi: Overall solid work, most of this was citation related! I'm glad you archived most of the sources already so you're work will be preserved. Will move to reviewing the Glass Passenger soon. Ping me when you get these done! Disc Wheel (T + C) 14:01, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
