Removed defenses drop down[edit]

Am I not allowed to post all the defenses the champion had or something? It's an important piece of information IMHO Makeblake (talk) 13:29, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There's not a single championship article on Wikipedia that lists every title defense. The number of defenses is just fine, listing every match is just unnecessary clutter. リボン・サルミネン (Ribbon Salminen) (talk) 16:51, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Exact number of Drew Galloway's title defenses[edit]

Hello,

Wiki is reporting 14 successful title defenses by Drew Galloway but I can only find 12 recorded defenses (all collated here: http://www.cagematch.net/?id=5&nr=1968&page=5&reign=3).

Galloway made appearances in Ireland (September) and Mexico (December) which I could only find minimal detail of but saw no talk of Evolve title matches anywhere - but if I'm wrong then I'd love to know. Other possibility is that somebody is counting his non-title matches with Roderick Strong as title defenses? Bringing 12 up to 14. FredKennedy (talk) 12:19, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is getting out of hand with more and more defenses being added without sources. Cagematch is the best we've got, but it is not considered reliable. Since the style guide states that the successful defenses section is only included "if the promotion keeps track of them", I'm removing it altogether, since Evolve doesn't keep up with them. リボン・サルミネン (Ribbon Salminen) (talk) 12:55, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is that definitely necessary? I'm not as informed in regards to style-guide but I have researched and verified all 12 of the title defenses listed on CageMatch (I submitted about 70% of them). EVOLVE barely has a website of its own so "keeping track of" aspect is a little hazy given their title history section stopped being updated June 2013 during AR Fox's reign. It's also worth noting that all five of the UK defenses were acknowledged in the WWNLIVE newsletter (and can be easily found listed on results sites and some are on YouTube), the PWX defense was live on iPPV and Gabe Sapolsky acknowledged it on Twitter, the Magnum Pro championship defense is available on VOD, the AWE defense was cleared for sanction prior to the event and is available on YouTube and the BTW defense is also on YouTube, while the remaining remaining three defenses were all on EVOLVE iPPV.

The only unreliable aspect is that somebody has entered a further two title defenses, which looks like an error based on the two non-title matches with Roderick Strong. I only opened this query to clarify some information, rather than to discredit the entire title history - because these 12 defenses are accurate and if we're going by what EVOLVE's title reign section then that doesn't even acknowledge that Chris Hero or Drew Galloway have held the title. http://dgusa.tv/results/evolve-results FredKennedy (talk) 15:15, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One could do the same with WWE titles; go through TV results, PPV results, house shows, international tours on Cagematch and come up with a number. However, we don't list defenses in WWE titles either as there's no certainty that the number would be correct like seen with this whole 12/14 defenses thing. Galloway may have defended the title at some small Scottish promotion no one has ever hear of or he may have not. Someone could have counted in some non-title matches or not. Who knows? Cagematch IS fan submitted and FAR from a complete database of results. Counting defenses from here and there and thinking that it's likely to be the correct number just isn't going to cut it. Promotions like PWG, ROH and Dragon Gate list all defenses, making it easy to confirm what is the correct number without the need for original research. Evolve not caring enough to do this is on them. We have credible sources to state that Hero and Galloway won the title and don't need Evolve's site for that. リボン・サルミネン (Ribbon Salminen) (talk) 16:05, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll leave it with you for now - but will again say that the 12 defenses are all completely factual, verified and readily viewable and in many cases acknowledged by Evolve or Gabe. I'd offer the suggestion that another option might be to list conservatively and include the 12 cited title matches, amending it from the number 14 which has no evidence whatsoever. But again, up to you. FredKennedy (talk) 18:12, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
