Architect[edit]

Here is Jacob Ort's obituary:

  • "Civil War Veteran Is Dead At Wahoo. Jacob Ort Is Wounded in Civil War". Fremont Tribune. Fremont, Nebraska. August 1, 1935. p. 5. Retrieved May 17, 2019 – via Newspapers.com.

Not sure if he is sufficiently notable to have his own article. User:Doncram: Do you know if he designed other NRHP-listed buildings please?Zigzig20s (talk) 19:29, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Borst House
Zigzig20s, sure, I find there is the Joseph Borst House, 302 Bryden Ave., Centralia, WA (Ort, Jacob), NRHP-listed. It is the only other "Ort" item in NRIS version 2013a (through some date in 2014). But its NRHP nomination document only mentions that carpenter Jacob Ort built this house: "Asettler of German blood, Jacob Ort, served as chief carpenter." [Other long stuff about early settler Joseph Borst not relevant.] Before I found that, I also googled "Jacob Ort architect Washington" and Jacob Ort architect Nebraska" without finding anything besides this new Kirchman house article. --Doncram (talk) 00:19, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is no mention of Washington state in his obituaries, so it could be another Jacob Ort.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:55, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, so there is probably not going to be a separate article on Jacob Ort. I can't get to see the interesting-sounding obituary you mention above. It would be fine/excellent if you would create a small section in this article about Jacob Ort, or otherwise set an {{anchor}} for a redirect target so that Jacob Ort could redirect to F.J. Kirchman House#Jacob Ort, and share a bit of the interesting stuff about him here. If someone later found a lot more, then perhaps an article about him could be split out, but otherwise some nice short coverage of him could exist forever in this article. The NRHP listing will have served the purpose of memorializing him. My two cents. :) --Doncram (talk) 00:40, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I added a bit more about his Civil War service. Probably not notable in his own right unless we find more sources/buildings. Thanks!Zigzig20s (talk) 11:54, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
