current name?[edit]

Should this not be listed under its current name (F.M. Kirby Center) rather than a name that it has not been known by for decades?    → Michael J    15:04, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comerford TheaterF.M. Kirby Center – Should this not be listed under its current name (F.M. Kirby Center) rather than a name that it has not been known by for decades? However, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places under its former name, so perhaps there should be discussion.    → Michael J    15:15, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: But what is its most common name? On the evidence we have, it's impossible to say which is the better name. I've created a redirect for the moment. What would be far more constructive would be to expand the article. I'm guessing it's now used mainly for live performances, but the article doesn't even say that. Or is it just preserved as a cinema? What projection gear does it have if so? The website seems to indicate that it's used as a live venue, but I'm guessing. Potential patrons probably know as much of this as they need to already, so although it would be good if their website provided this information it's not mission-critical to them. It is to Wikipedia; A list of the spaces currently in use, their capacities and facilities, would be great. Andrewa (talk) 12:35, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per WP:COMMONNAME. I'll take actual usage over NRHP titles any day. --BDD (talk) 20:06, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment "F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts" seems to be the commonly used title. I've not found many sources which refer to it just as "F.M. Kirby Center". Furthermore, the shorter form is ambiguous with the F. M. Kirby Research Center for Functional Brain Imaging. Perhaps that's not notable enough for an article, but better to use the full title since that appears to be the commone one anyway.  — Amakuru (talk) 14:41, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Clearly more common than the current title. No objection to F. M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts per Amakuru. It gets 555 Google Books hits; "F. M. Kirby Center" gets 590, but some of those sources intend other subjects, such as the F.M. Kirby Center for Molecular Ophthalmology. Either way, it's much more common than "Comerford Theater", which gets only 93 Google Books results, not all of which even intend this theater: there were a number of "Comerford Theaters", apparently.[1]--Cúchullain t/c 15:45, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
