It is my understanding that Humpy Koneru could not play in Gibralter because of India-related travel restrictions. It is also my understanding that if Abdumalik, Mariya Muzychuk, Lagno, or Dzagnidze do well enough in Gibraltar, Koneru would be unseated from the number two spot in the final standings. She could even drop to 4th place.
I cannot yet find verification of this. But maybe someone can help me look into this. If it is so, it should be mentioned in this article.
