Removing Mark Sprague claims[edit]

I removed this because while I do remember the fandub, it was nowhere near as well known as it claimed to be. There's no reliable sources to back up any of the claims that it inspired others to make fandubs, or that it received international publicity. I remember that it was tossed around as a curiosity, but international publicity? Nope. (And this is taking into account that this was 1997 and most of the reaction was limited to various fan websites and chatrooms.) The most it got was some talk on a few of the SM channels, which could be charitably called "international" since it's the internet. If there are any reliable sources, they're lost to the internet. Since we have no reliable sources to back up any of the claims in the article, I removed it. The only sources I can find are non-usable ones, and even then they only verify that there was a dub and that it was circulated at one point in time. Other than that, it doesn't state that it was well known internationally or otherwise.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 08:45, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Abridged Series[edit]

Those are not fandubs, but full video edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.75.98.4 (talk) 17:34, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes and no. There is a lot of heavy editing, but the people creating the abridged series are still creating their own dubs. It's not exactly what the main focus of the article is, but it's still worth mentioning in the article. I do think that it should be a little more clearly stated, though, since not every fandub is completely different from the original dialogue.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 04:47, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Abridged Series[edit]

From watching Yugioh: The Abridged Series, I couldn't call it a fandub or even a gag dub. A fandub brings to mind using the entirety of the video but replacing the voices. Much of Yugioh Abridged uses the 4Kids dub as it's video, since a lot of the humor is from ridiculing them. Yugioh Abridged takes select scenes from the show and makes a shorter story with a lot of jokes and references. Yugioh Abridged is closer to a Youtube Poop than a fandub. • Youtube poops are cosndierably different, being significantly more nonsequitur oriented. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.109.207.120 (talk) 18:40, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dubs by Chutti TV?[edit]

I'm confused on what the mention of the Tamil dubs of children's shows which aired TV channel, Chutti TV has to do with fandubs. Since, SUN Group is an official company they don't appear to be the work of fan labour. It's unreferenced and I can't seem to find any good sources on them online, so there's that too. - Yen-sage (talk) 04:22, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
