One of four major tornadoes in the Fargo area[edit]

In addition to the 1957 Fargo tornado there have been three rated F3. The first on June 13, 1950. On August 30, 1956 there was another. The last was on June 15, 1973 in Casselton and another F3 hit Hillsboro a day later.--Kevjgav (talk) 17:37, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed page improvements[edit]

This article was recently modified with the following changes, making the article closer in format to similar pages 1990 Plainfield tornado, 1996 Oakfield tornado, and 2007 Elie, Manitoba tornado:

  • Section headings
  • Content organization
  • Further information on the other four tornadoes, organized in a table
  • Page move to 1957 Fargo tornadoes
  • Additionally, Template:Overly detailed was added for the Events and impact section, due to the level of detail regarding the victims of the tornado and people related to the victims

These modifications were reverted by ChessEric, stating to make changes at userspace page User:ChessEric/June 20–23, 1957 tornado outbreak sequence instead, and that I "didn't get approval to do this".

If I'm not mistaken, this goes against wiki spirit - namely, "Respect for freedom and equality among Wikipedia users in editing the page." With the exception of pages that are protected and thus requests need to be made by non-admins, there is no approval process for edits on Wikipedia, and all are welcome and encouraged to improve articles immediately.

Politics aside, I'd like to open discussion on these modifications to hear input from others on these changes.--immewnity 23:45, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Immewnity:@ChessEric: Comment: You both seems to be on the verge of "edit warring", so you both might want to stop and discuss this instead of forcing things on each other. Now, I do agree with the section headings, organizing content, and how some parts of the article is overly detailed (it's like a summary of the main source of reference -- one of the best reference for the article, but still). However, immewnity, I think you might want to wait a bit before moving the article until ChessEric finishes creating the outbreak sequence article. I see your point with your examples (as well as 1953 Vicksburg, Mississippi, tornadoes, and 1947 Woodward tornadoes), but the 1957 Fargo tornado outbreak was part of a bigger outbreak sequence. Once the article is completed and officially on Wikipedia, the Fargo article can be linked to it. Otherwise, we might as well merge it with ChessEric's article when it's done. (Also see 2011 Super Outbreak, Flint–Worcester tornado outbreak sequence, Tornado outbreak sequence of May 21–26, 2011 and Tornado outbreak sequence of May 1896 to get a idea of the plan concerning the Fargo Tornado article.)--Halls4521 (talk) 01:59, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guys. I'm sorry. I've had rough day. Please forgive me and I hope we get along. I'm still new here so I freaked out because I didn't know or trust you. I'm sorry. ChessEric (talk) 02:09, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, I hope we all get along and work to improve these article too.--Halls4521 (talk) 02:42, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
