Info Box[edit]

I have removed the Info Box added in good faith as I personally feel they are redundant; there has been much debate on Wikipedia regarding their use. It is MHO that they are redundant and add nothing to an article. Other more prominent articles such as that for W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan do not have info boxes and I do not feel that one is needed here. Jack1956 (talk) 11:06, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes are redundant on purpose and help certain readers, especially those who know little to nothing on the subject. If they don't know that he is an actor, they have to to read beyond his dates of birth and death and alternate name to find out. In an "identibox" (example Percy Grainger) they would get to know that on top of the attractive picture, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:43, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox added to this article was not merely redundant but interfered with the formatting of the article, taking up a large amount of space on the right side of the page. Further, the box does not emphasize the most important information, which the narrative LEAD section does better. It also contained erroneous information (years active end date), which is typical of infoboxes for actors. I believe that it detracted from the readability of the article. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:03, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
