Husbands and sons[edit]

It's important to summarise her relationships in the infobox as she has spoken about these at length. Her marriages and relationships with men are important to understand her body of work and her choices. She still bears the surname of one of her husbands. Her sons are also important aspects of her life and she has spoken about how being a single mother drove her choices. This helps us understand a female artist in the 1950s and 60s and the barriers and problems she faced. She posed for following portrait with her sons https://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/portrait/mw81508/Tom-Weldon-Sam-Weldon-Dan-Weldon-Fay-Weldon-Nicolas-Weldon now in the National Portrait Gallery. She speaks of these issues here https://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/3576743/The-life-and-loves-of-Fay-Weldon.html and in her autobiography Auto Da Fay. I personally think it's better to have her final marriage first as they seem to range in significance to her in reverse order, but chronological order would also be acceptable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.252.201.168 (talk) 13:55, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Restructuring[edit]

The structure of the article could be improved significantly to make it more readable - early life, early career (in advertising), writing career, awards, personal life... Currently it is an unstructured chronological list. I will try and untangle but it might need more work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.252.201.168 (talk) 13:58, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Awards listed under Controversies?[edit]

As it is, the paragraph "Awards" appears as a sub-section of "Controversies". I assume it belongs somewhere else, and was accidentally moved to this position? 62.205.80.214 (talk) 17:22, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, it was just edited as I was writing this. 62.205.80.214 (talk) 17:25, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fay and feminism[edit]

I've just made two edits which I hope do better justice to Fay's complex relationship with feminism, not to say her own past! Reading the originals, I'm concerned they read with a somewhat trolling flavour (apologies to whoever wrote the originals if that was not their intention). Fay said many contradictory things in her time, she also said many outrageous things, sometimes with mischievous intent and sometimes from the heart.

Re the details.

1) "regretted becoming a feminist" is not supported by the referenced Newsnight clip. I have updated the text to reflect what she actually said in the clip.

2) "condemned by feminists" bandies the f word about, again it's not what the reference says, or anyway not in the two paras you can read above the "register" banner, which I assume is what people will read. I have updated the text to reflect what the reference actually says.

Please join this conversation if you think these changes need improvement.

Update: The original appearance of the Newsnight reference seems to be the edit below, and on the contrary Fay quite clearly says no such thing. She agrees with Kirsty Walk's formulation of "disappointed".
