The Ffiec entry does seem to represent the same entity however, as noted in another thread, it should be "FFIEC" (in capitals) and the title should capitalize all words (as this one does). I agree they should be merged Federal_Financial_Institutions_Examination_Council and Ffiec.

SPAMMERS -- phishing scam (warning)[edit]

Hi folks, just in case someone with less experience with phishing scammers comes to this Wikipedia page, there's a mention of the FFIEC in some emails that are intended to steal your bank login information. Do NOT click any of the links that they send you (most of the emails are sent out to people who don't even have an account at the bank, of course).

One of them I just got was this: Dear Bank of America - Military Bank Customer,

As part of our efforts to meet the requirements of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), we now ask all Military Bank Online users to verify their account information. It's a smart and simple way to add an additional level of protection to your account.

Here's how it works:

   1.   Click here to sign on. 
   2.   Complete our quick and simple form.  
   3.   Continue with your Military Bank Online session.

We may periodically ask you to provide information in Military Bank Online as a quick identity check. That way, when you drop in to do business, we'll know it's you.

Thank you, Bank Of America - Military Bank Online

NOTE: I do not even HAVE a "Bank Of America" account, but this particular phishing email seems more "legit" because the potential victim could research FFIEC and sees it's not made up, then believes the rest of the email. :( 199.214.27.209 17:35, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just received a similar email supposedly from St. George Bank in Australia. I hope my fellow Australians have enough sense to Google FFIEC first, if they are in the habit of submitting banking details to websites given to them by an e-mail. 61.8.38.233 (talk) 05:41, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the Cybersecurity section in its first paragraph someone wrote, "In June 2014 FFIEC launched a new webpage on cybersecurity and announced that it was initiating a pilot for 500 member institutions."
