Notable Defenders[edit]

What are the criteria for defining a past or present federal defender as "notable" and, within the context of the article, what does it even mean to declare a defender to be notable? I question whether the list presented in the article is useful (or can be made useful) or that it can be kept up-to-date, and suggest that it be removed from the article.
