Merge back Federation of Northern Syria to Rojava[edit]

While currently not much information is available, this entity seems to be simply the successor of what was previously called Rojava, and for now continues to be primarily referred to as Rojava. For what we know now it therefore splitting the article doesn't seem to make much sense. Pinging the author Hindian1947 for clarification. --PanchoS (talk) 10:27, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PanchoS, I believe this article should be separate with Rojava article as the new Federation is called "Rojava and Northern Syria United Democratic System" in its deceleration manifest. Plus Rojava, historically consists of 3 separated regions, but new Federation is larger than this area, claiming most northern border of Syria.--Joseph (talk) 21:07, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose merge: The Federation of Northern Syria and Rojava are separate, as the Federation consists of the original Rojava and territory captured from Rebel groups and Islamic State. The federation for now is an extension of Rojava, which is a fixed territory of the Kurds. The federation expands into non Kurdish areas, though it occupies much of the original Rojava. "territory of the Kurds", "non Kurdish areas" -> these concepts are fantasy POV, there never was any serious demarcation what would be a Kurdish or a non-Kurdish area in Syria by anyone. The only demarcation of territory under the name of Rojava by anyone ever is the now existing federation, which by the way does not use the concept of "Kurdish areas" at all, so IMHO this article should be merged into the "Rojava" article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.72.22.19 (talk) 21:05, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Why in the world would the Federation name itself "Federation of Northern Syria – Rojava" if these two are separate? Plus, the pre-federation Rojava itself contained a lot of non-Kurdish majority territory. Editor abcdef (talk) 10:49, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support merge: This separate stump article makes zero sense now. The original "Rojava" article has become a good and elaborate article about the "Federation of Northern Syria – Rojava". Following statement was removed:

The Federation of Northern Syria has a large portion of it being non-Kurdish majority areas captured from the Islamic State.[1]
