Name on head[edit]

I have yet to see a picture of a Swinger WITH "Swinger" on the head. All the pictures I have seen just say "Fender". NickS 14:27, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any place for references?[edit]

Yes, a Google Books search turns up a few interesting books. One is Guitar History: Guitars Made by the Fender Company which mentions the Swinger label being applied over the varnish but mistakenly identifies the body as from the Electric 12 stock. Two others are both by Tony Bacon but only one has any preview permitted: 50 Years of Fender: Half a Century of the Greatest Electric Guitars. I've put that into the article as a reference. Colors available[edit]

Are we certain about the colors available? I know that musicmasters only came in red, white, and blue for a time in the '60's. I have seen somewhere that Fender sort of let up on this patriotic scheme for the Swinger just to get them out of the door. On shortscale.org, there's even a purple-burst swinger. Well, mine was originally Candy Apple Red. Barry Richman's site http://www.barryrichman.com/collection_3.html shows Daphne Blue, Olympic White, CAR and Lake Placid Blue (lacquer aged so it looks green). Ben Kweller's appear to be Daphne, LPB and black (a low-res picture on WIkimedia appears to show that the surviving "Swinger" decal is on the LPB. NickS (talk) 11:43, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Fender Swinger has become a vintage guitar and a collector's item.

This cannot stand without reference to some credible objective source. And pasting it blithely at the end of Development and design makes no sane sense.

Resolve the production claims!![edit]

Between 300 and 600 Swingers were produced
only 250 to 300 Swingers were ever produced

If both statements are true, then EXACTLY 300 Swingers were produced!! I am inclined to simply flip a coin & make the loser disappear.

I should also note that "number produced" is going to be larger than "number sold at retail." Can anyone prove that Fender didn't simply strip a few for parts and destroy the carcases?
