Merge?[edit]

I'm not certain that both First Horizon and First Tennessee Bank both need articles. I'm of the opinion that the latter article should be merged into this one and be made to redirect here. Maybe i'm simply misunderstanding the corporate structure of these companies, but it seems they are basically the same. - Jersyko talk 01:22, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

No, it was already split from First Tennessee Bank. FTB is a subsidiary of FHNC. Zpb52 01:57, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
On a related issue: The article implies that FTN Financial is a subsidiary of First Horizon, as though it were "sibling" to First National Bank. It also contains overt promotional language copied/pasted straight from the companies' web sites. According to First Tennessee Bank's web site (check the fine print at the bottom of this page) FTN Financial is a subsidiary of First Tennessee Bank and not a direct subsidiary of First Horizon. Admittedly, It is often described as though it were a direct subsidiary. First Horizon's corporate site's About Us page markets the Bank, FTN and FTB Advisors as three different companies, but FTN Financial's web site describes itself as a subsidiary of First Tennessee Bank, and FTB's site explains that it is a collection of wealth-management "products" offered by First Tennessee Bank. FTB isn't presented as a subsidiary in this article, but it helps to illustrate FTN Financial's real status. It's a long-established and well-known department of the Bank, so its status level or gravitas falls somewhere between that of the Bank and the "product". Fair use rationale for Image:First Horizon National Corporation logo.gif[edit]

Image:First Horizon National Corporation logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:07, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi - I'm on the marketing team for First Horizon. We recently changed our logo and I need the new one added to our InfoBox. I deleted the old one just now, but can't add the new one.

Can someone please do that for us? I've tried uploading it but it's saying it's not my art (it is).

Here's a link to it on our website: https://www.firsthorizon.com/-/media/Images/Logos/FH_NC_220.jpg?h=42&w=220&la=en&hash=7FA9EDF1AE2C11C826DE3DD4F1F8B46A — Preceding unsigned comment added by JMintzFH (talkcontribs) 15:57, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  Please use WP:FFU

  • The logo must first be uploaded along with the appurtenant use license before it can be added to the article. If there are difficulties uploading the logo via the File Upload Wizard, as an alternative the COI editor may propose its being uploaded at files for upload.
  • Once the file and the license are uploaded, please return to this talk page and create a new edit request, making sure to provide the file name of the uploaded logo.[a]
  • The COI editor is reminded of the need to sign all talk page posts using four tildes.

Notes

  1. ^ Please note that most logos used in Wikipedia are uploaded using a fair use license along with a trademark notice {{Non-free logo}}. If any other Creative Commons license were selected within the Wizard for use with a logo which meets the threshold for creativity (or does not meet the minimal use-mandated reduced file size requirement) the file would be rejected unless a specific approval were obtained from Wikipedia's Open-source Ticket Request system.

Merger proposal (Result: Merged)[edit]

Proposing the merger of First Horizon Bank into this article. It's unusual to have separate articles for a bank and its bank holding corporation, particularly since both will soon be absorbed by TD Bank once the (real-life) merger is complete. Conifer (talk) 18:22, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support, and I would further support that holding companies for major brands, unless there is some other reason why the holding company itself is notable beyond its main subsidiary, be merged as a new precedent. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 17:38, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Conifer just merged the two pages. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 17:53, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Looks great. Sorry to respond so late – think the ping didn't work. Conifer (talk) 03:20, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
