Rag Baby and A Tin Soldier[edit]

User:Bungle, there was some confusion in the text as to when she was performing Rag Baby, and when he was writing/she was performing "A Tin Soldier". I tried to straighten it out. Please confirm that it is described clearly now. -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:18, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, can you please list more plays or musicals that she performed in, noting when and where? -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:22, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Her first engagement for A Rag Baby is reported in October 1885 and seemed to continue into 1886, so this is clarified now. The best way to get a list of plays may well be just to find news reports of each respective play being promoted with her name associated with it, unless there is a later source detailing all these together, which I have yet to find. Grading[edit]

@Ssilvers: I observe you amended Ipigott's grade assessment, which is fair enough if you disagreed, however what would the article require in your view to justify that, or something higher? I have made some recent amendments and expansion to it as it popped up again on my watchlist. Bungle (talkcontribs) 18:36, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for adding the additional sources. I have just looked at some of the sources. This article is nowhere near comprehensive and is missing much detail on Walsh's career. Quite a bit of what was written in the article disagreed with the SFE Obit, indicating that much more work needs to be done to bring this article up to B-class. The Tacoma Daily Ledger's obit seems obviously wrong in many details and should probably be removed when we have more sources to replace it. There is no shame in being a c-class article, it just indicates that more needs to be done, if someone has the time and inclination to do the work. Here at Wikipedia there is a lot of grade inflation, which is a shame, since it discourages people from working on articles, when they think articles are "good enough". For more information about improving articles, see WP:ARTASS. All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:49, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ssilvers, thanks for your response and indeed, further development. I have no qualms about this not being B-class (I personally would not have classed it as such), but I became moderately intrigued in this individual again when it popped up on my WL. That said, I am in no way indicating any kind of belief that this is anything close to polished, and source scrutiny should surely be done. It's always helpful to have another pair of eyes over these things and your thoughts are valued. Bungle (talkcontribs) 22:57, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also think this is an interesting (and tragic) bio for our encyclopedia readers (and Hoyt is also very interesting), but I do not have the resources to do a big research push on it. If you have time, it would be great if you can find more reviews of her roles, or other news articles about her. I am always happy to be a second pair of eyes. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:26, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
