Rename?[edit]

Would anyone object (or support) renaming the article "Forestry in Russia" and placing it into the "Forestry by country" category/template? I feel that although the Russian timber industry is extensive, it could be better covered in a more forestry-centric format. minnecologies (talk) 18:54, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Intended Edits for this Article[edit]

I've noticed that this article has been tagged for needing general copyediting help, as well as condensing or reorganizing the introductory section. Aside from these things, I think the Composition section of the article is a little hard to read and its links to other articles don't seem to be working. While I'm not totally sure how to fix this portion, since it confuses me the way that it is, I hope to:

  • improve the article by first copyediting it to improve readability
  • reorganize the article to condense the introductory paragraph
  • add greater clarification to the "Problems of forest industry" section, since it contains many sentence fragments

The changes I intend to make will be done first in a sandbox and slowly implemented as I make them, so as not to disrupt or harm the progress that has been made to the article so far. If anyone is currently working on the article, please feel free to reply to me and offer advice you may have on how I can be of use and benefit the restoration and repair of this article. Reasons for removing some content in the article[edit]

The sections I reference are can be found in the 9 February 2021 edit, the one prior to mine. I removed them because they did not make sense, did not have an organized sentence structure, contained sentence fragments, or I felt they could not be salvaged in the article as a whole. I did my best to keep as much information as possible.

The section below did not seem useful. It seems like it belongs somewhere else that would benefit from more specific details on Russian wood production. This is what I removed: "Eastern Siberia Ural Far East Mechanical wood processing Sawmills (raw factor) Construction materials (consumption factor) - is typical for all regions Chemical treatment of wood Pulp and paper industry (energy, raw materials, environmental factors accommodation, hygroscopic) Dendrochemistry (raw factor) Machining of wood" and "Vintage frame saw, mounted on Rakovski Street in Minsk Mechanical wood processing (sawmilling, manufacture of prefabricated wooden houses, furniture, plywood, wood-fiber, chipboard) is located in the blanks areas and in areas of consumption. (Especially when crossing the floatable rivers and railways, or in estuaries)"

I removed these two sections because they seemed out of place and I wasn't sure where to add them. They could always be added back to the prominent venues section of the article: "In this connection, the sharpness becomes the question of the preservation and renewal of forest resources in Siberia (especially taiga) and the other aforementioned cities of the Russian Federation." and "Russian forest-based industries financials Taiga in Kamchatka Krai, with Koryaksky volcano in the distance."

This section could be considered a violation of Wiki:NPOV: "Russia is fully capable to take a large part of this market, but it is necessary to improve the country's relations with Europe."

This section was removed because it was a rephrased version of an earlier paragraph. I took information from both sentences and condensed them accordingly: "The ten largest Russian companies had over 70% of the total Top 50 joint revenue, with the joint net benefit of the top 50 companies making up 6.26 billion roubles ($84.8 million USD). The share of woodworking companies that did not deal in pulp and paper business were slightly over 27% of the total revenue and 26.8% of the total net benefit."

These are the sections I've removed and my reasoning for editing them out. HappyLittleBonzaii (talk) 00:35, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
