Not necessary?[edit]

No it's not necessary - but it is nice, and it is in use on similar pages elsewhere. It's also very convenient to avoid retyping the season, and going through the search engine, and also, I wasn't even aware these season pages existed. I'd very much like those wiki-links restored. --Falcadore 09:55, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You don't get it, there are no season pages. All you did was wikilink the general years pages, which is heavily redundant, because you won't get no information about F5000 there. --Pc13 17:04, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, although I didn't do it. I should have checked where the links went to. --Falcadore 21:27, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Table[edit]

Someone removed the table, claiming that it is unnecessary as F5000 was a format and not a series. I argue that the table should remain as F5000 acted like a series while still being a category of the SCCA's open wheel cars. AmericanLeMans (talk) 05:23, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Formula 5000 was utilised in multiple series across four continents. You may as well put the British Formula Ford Championship infobox on the Formula Ford page by that logic. It's a sound edit. And the Infobox isn't accurate anyway. Stating it folded in 1986 runs counter to its claim of being an open wheel series. --Falcadore (talk) 05:41, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome to start an article on the SCCA F5000 series. --Falcadore (talk) 05:52, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We need pages for the following series featuring F5000 cars. Some of these already exist: SCCA Formula 5000 Championship (redirects SCCA Formula A Championship, SCCA Continental Championship?), Can-Am (1977-1986 years), European Formula 5000 Championship (redirects British Formula 5000 Championship, Guards Formula 5000 Championship, BRSCC Formula 5000 Championship?), Shellsport Group 7 Series (predates British F1), Tasman Series, Rothmans International Series, Peter Stuyvesant Series, Australian Drivers' Championship, New Zealand Drivers Championship, South African Formula One Championship. Any thoughts? --Pc13 (talk) 16:17, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Seasonal pages[edit]

Since F5000 wasn't a series per se, I wonder whether the seasonal pages should be renamed. AmericanLeMans (talk) 03:40, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. GTHO (talk) 10:34, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The actual series names are quite well documented at http://myf5000.com/race_review.html. GTHO (talk) 03:09, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New Tasman formula[edit]

This is referred to at the end of the section on Australia and New Zealand as though it's a fait accompli but in fact, no commitments have been made yet. At this stage it's a proposal. A proof of concept example is under construction in Melbourne, as of early April, 2016. Flanker235 (talk) 12:32, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been altered accordingly. Flanker235 (talk) 13:49, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
