he never attenden stanford, but his local competitor was tom watson who played at stanford.  forrest won california state ameteur 4 times and has the course record at pastiempo golf course, designed by his inspiration allistor mackenzie.  he shot a 63, and was sick, his brother forced him out to play.  His forte was his short game and but he also had a beautiful stroke, and some amazing clothes.  His runner up finish at "the massacre at winged foot" is still one of the greatest golf tournaments of all time and his bunker shot at 17 is one of the most courageous shots in golf history.  Next to teeing of in shorts on 18 at oakmont and finishing with an impressive 5!
