So what happened to the fort after 1675? I assume that as English colonists pushed the frontier to the west, its military value faded & eventually it was abandoned. However, I also expect that local historical groups attempted to restore it (maybe assisted financially by one or more newly-rich businessmen), & probably engaged in some archeological explorations. From the article, it is unclear whether there is anything to be seen there today. -- llywrch (talk) 15:53, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The opening paragraph does state that the island on which it was built no longer exists. By clicking on the link to ref {1} one can find alot of information about what became of the fort. Bringing that info into the article would certainly be helpful to those who might have the same questions.Djflem (talk) 19:21, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A preliminary archaeological survey in 1986 determined that the site of Ft. Casmir is actually on land, although under several feet of fill. I'll edit the article to reference the report.Wkharrisjr (talk) 20:04, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
