{{Advert}} Cleanup and COI Declaration[edit]

Untitled[edit]

I made a start on the requested {{Advert}} cleanup by removing the worst offender, a Gartner plug, from the summary, moving the link to its proper section. I also removed some over-blown claims about the founders’ book. Some of the latter might be differences of opinion: “first of its kind” is trivially true if “kind” is construed sufficiently narrowly, but is in my opinion over-optimistic. “a complete guide to static analysis” is obviously false; there are only a couple of paragraphs on abstract interpretation and model checking, and the coverage of competitors is unsurprisingly cursory. [Though not as cursory as the index implies; e.g., Coverity has only a single index entry, and Engler, believe it or not, is completely absent; but Coverity and/or Engler are also mentioned on pp. 39, 46, 95.] And the failure to mention that sections of the book amount to an advertisement (though a worthwhile one, IMHO) does suggest a lack of good faith on the part of the editor.

COI(s) disclaimer: My day job used to be using Coverity Prevent, though I might apply for a job with Fortify. —FlashSheridan (talk) 19:28, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
