Problems I have with this article[edit]

It describes the view of critics who describe Ajami as a "neoconservative," with no mention of the fact that he has explicitly disavowed that label in the past-even referring to his "neoconservative friends" during a taping of The Charlie Rose Show-and as an "unabashed supporter" of George W. Bush.

While I agree that he has supported some significant foreign policy decisions made by the Bush administration this makes it seem as if he is a reflexive supporter of every policy pursued by President Bush, which isn't the case.

Also, while I agree that the Arab-Israeli conflict is not his primary area of expertise, and he has focused much more extensively on other historical subjects, to say that he hardly ever comments, writes, or pontificates on this aspect of the modern Middle East is incorrect.

Ajami was one of the most politically influential Arab-American intellectuals of his generation well before George W. Bush's presidency, as can be read right in the article vis-a-vis the Huntington dispute. He does not avoid the Arab/Israeli dispute. Ajami's writing style may make him accessible, but does not in itself lead to his political influence. And who are those who argue that his political influence comes from his supposedly unabashed support of Bush?

He is not a constant supporter of the Bush administration. Rather, he supports them on issues of democratic peace and issues surrounding Iraq and other fronts in the war on terror. What I never understand is -as Ajami is part of a small minority of higher education that isn't biased towards the left- how his scholarly opponents never painted as socialist liberals, or IR socialists. Hey I'm concerned about the Said quote, the "anti-arab" one. For one thing this is not backed up by other resources on his life. Said was an amazing guy, but they clashed often. This seems like a criticism and not important information on Ajami. Do we really need to know what Said's opinion was on Ajami's view of arabs? Also was Said's statement a well-known, long term view or simply something he said in an article? Anyways seem pretty POV to me, any thoughts? I have to agree with Hibernia here. I don't see any particular reason to include Edward Said's opinion unless it was something widely discussed or a well known viewpoint (which we would need evidence for). Nil Einne (talk) 04:30, 5 October 2009 (UTC).[reply]
It was a well-known viewpoint of Said. POV check[edit]

This article was listed in Category:NPOV disputes from June 2007. Since there has been no recent discussion regarding this article's neutrality and no outstanding correctable issues left on the talk page, I have removed the pov-check tag. If anyone disagrees, please revert my removal and list your grievances here. --Gimme danger (talk) 01:47, 27 January 2009 (UTC) I am an arab, and I have seen and read a lot of interviews and articles for Mr. Ajami, hence I agree full heartly with the Mr. Edward Said when he discribe Ajami as an anti arab, as in all his interviews and articles he seems to alawys looking for any reason to discredit any arab view or openion... Bilderberg attendance[edit]

Kosovo[edit]

I removed this [1]. It was unsourced other then to the alleged controversial article which doesn't establish there was any controversy about this even if it really did contain the picture (which it doesn't at this time). The fact that something seems controversial to editors doesn't make it a controversy worth of mention in an article unless WP:RS say there was one Nil Einne (talk) 04:25, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
