Draft for consideration[edit]

I am a partner at Foundation Capital. I would like to share a proposed rewrite of the current article, so that independent, impartial editors have an opportunity to review the draft and provide any feedback. In comparison to the current article, I believe the draft would be a substantial improvement because:

  • Better and more sources have been added
  • It has more up-to-date information
  • The content is more complete, more neutral, and more comprehensive

Thank you in advance for taking the time to review the proposed content. Sangatfoundationcap (talk) 20:42, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Sangatfoundationcap:, thank you for your patience in this edit request. Since you are proposing lots of changes, this request will be assessed in sections and might take several days or longer to complete. If you have any questions please post below. I will assess the lede in the end. Some comments have been posted below:
History section: The techcrunch source is written by a senior editor of the site so I consider it reliable.
For the source 2, 5 and 6 in your draft, where did you find this information? If it was a URL, can you post the URL below? If it was on a database can you tell me the name of the database?
Unfortuantly, WSJ Pro is behind a paywall for me. Can you send me an email of the article in a pdf? Do not post the pdf on Wikipedia (this can put Wikipedia in legal jeopardy). Instead, click on this link to send me an email.
For The firm's largest funding round in 2008 for $750 million was intended for investing in more late-stage companies, but the financial crisis of 2007–2008 caused the firm to downsize. Wikipedia is written so that a user with little background knowledge in a subject area can understand the prose. I do not know what a "funding round" is. Also, I would like more information on why the 2008 financial crisis caused the firm to downsize. Can you rewrite this with simpler language?
Foundation Capital rebounded with new hires and larger funds later on. This is too general. I would like more specifics on when the new hirings took place and what happened with the larger funds.
In the article, it says Ashu Garg, Charles Moldow, and Steve Vassalo were appointed as new general managers. but your infobox has them listed as General Partners. Which title is correct? Also, are Garg, Moldow and Vassalo at the "top" of the company structure? (In other words, are they the boss/president/the highest responsibility position in the company or do they report to someone higher up?)
We do not need to list how much they raised every year. Instead, we should focus on notable events in the company's history, like CEO changes, a significant increase or decrease in profits (like in 2008) or notable expansions.
I'll pause the review there to give you time to answer the questions. Please ping me when you respond. Z1720 (talk) 21:40, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Z1720:. Sorry for the belated response. Notes below:

  • I was unable to email you through Wikipedia, but if you email me at sang@foundationcap.com I will provide pdf copies of the offline sources.
  • I tried to do a better job explaining what a funding round is in a revised draft at the same link.
  • Funding rounds are not the same as annual revenues and are the most important milestones in a venture capital firm's history. Wikipedia's instructions at WikiProject Private Equity says to include them (see the outline/template here).
  • Regarding more detail for "new hires and larger funds later on" this is elaborated on in the subsequent sentences
  • I corrected the titles of Ashu Garg, Charles Moldow, and Steve Vassallo in the revised draft at the same url

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. Best regards. Sangatfoundationcap (talk) 19:17, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sangatfoundationcap: At this time I am not fulfilling large edit requests. I suggest opening a new ticket with your changes outlined. This will allow another editor to fulfill the request. Let me know if you have any questions, or go to the WP:TEAHOUSE or WP:HELPDESK. Z1720 (talk) 19:30, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
