GA Review[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch
Hello, I'll be reviewing this article for possible GA status. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 01:26, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm placing the article on hold to allow contributors time to address my concerns. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 02:09, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No progress has been made on the article in the past week; therefore, I'm going to decline to list it at this time. Please feel free to renominate the article once the below concerns have been addressed. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 20:25, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Writing and formatting[edit]

  • Consider adding at least one more paragraph to the lead
  • Is there a better section title than "Synopsis"?
  • "a strong northwest wind an hail stones" - grammar
  • Given that some tornadoes affected more than one state, might you title the table "Tornadoes by state of origin" or something similar?
  • Quotes that are not complete sentences should have ending quotation mark before punctuation
  • "but only slightly injured" -> "but was only slightly injured"

Accuracy and verifiability[edit]

  • Make sure that all quotations have citations
  • Citations needed for:
  • "leveled with the ground"
  • "feared mortally wounded."
  • A house's roof was destroyed, with pieces scattered 0.75 miles (1.2 km) away
  • Pieces of the house were found 3 miles (4.8 km) distant. A barn was "taken and entirely carried off" by the tornado, and was not found.
  • hail stones weighing more than 1 ounce (28 g) damaged crops and broke windows.
  • One author's name is spelled both "Ludlum" and "Ludlam" in the references. Which is correct?

Broad[edit]

  • Rather short for a good article, but covers the topic well

Neutrality[edit]

  • Take a look at WP:WTA - certain words introduce an editorial bias and should be avoided

Stable[edit]

No issues noted

Images[edit]

  • The image is tagged to be recreated using vector graphics
  • Not required, but I personally would appreciate a similar map showing the approximate paths of the tornadoes
