No introduction as to the general nature of Franco-Italian relations[edit]

Reading the article, it seems that Franco-Italian relations run pretty deep. They are similar nations in population size and many other things, but have also influenced each other. Because of this, I think a better introduction to emphasize the nature of this relationship is needed. If you read it as is, one might be lead to believe we are simply arbitrarily comparing two European countries, yet in one virtually empty section, it mentions that the two countries are each other's second largest trading partners. Basically, this whole article is a mess and is treated more like some sort of disambiguation or a comparison between different brands of graphic cards. It seems to deserve more than that, given, for example, how often I have confused Italian and French cuisine. That's actually what prompted me to look into the relation between the two countries. The article doesn't, how do you say, build an image of Franco-Italian history? Something like that. I feel like I'm just plopped in the middle of something and I have to muddle my way through the article lost. Repku (talk) 11:45, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum: I guess that's sort of a long winded way of me saying that this article does not flow very well. Also, that introductory sentence... "France–Italy relations refer to the interstate relations as well as the historical links between the French Republic and the Italian Republic" like well duh? Sprichst du English? I'd reword it myself, but I'm nervous about editing an article on a subject I know virtually nothing about and I might have to find more information to adequately introduce it. I'm also wondering why the article seems to want to force a, presumably some how narrowed definition for "France-Italy relations"; Does that imply there is more to this? I would think not (given how broad a subject that is on its own), and if not than the definition should be removed and replaced with a sentence like "Relations between the countries of France and Italy have been ..." or something along those lines, rather than trying to awkwardly define the article's title. This is unlike articles like, say, pitaya, where someone might actually not know what you are talking about or be disoriented without an introduction like "A pitaya is".
