French?[edit]

While she is from England, is there a source for her being of French descent? Michael 04:56, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not that i know of, although her name would seem to suggest some french connection. Anyhoo, she apparently went to a French-speaking secondary school (isn't that the place madonna's kids go?), so that' something. Amo 05:51, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Photo[edit]

Are there any public domain photos of her, or publicity shots that can be used here?Peel 04:07, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unneccessary Bias[edit]

"a portrayal widely considered one of the finest in British comedy history"... hmm... no bias there, then?

Deleted.

4 equals 3[edit]

"She won the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award four times"

... and then you list 3 items ...

this looks a bit unresearched.

Possible copyright violation[edit]

Resolved

There is a possible copyright violation between the text of this article and that at http://francesdelatour.com/bio/. However, considering the age of this article (created 13 Feb 2005‎), perhaps it's the other way around.

  • I don't know how official that bio site is
  • It states "© Copyright 2009, All Rights Reserved - Frances de la Tour" which is an incorrect claim if copied from Wikipedia
  • Maybe there was a former official site at a different domain beforehand (containing text then copied to Wikipedia) - does anyone know about this (a quick look through the history doesn't seem to indicate an alternative URL was recorded here)
  • The official bio site dates back to 17 Oct 2009

If I had time I'd trawl a bit further through the history to see how the text evolved. If it appeared here gradually by different editors through the normal course of editing, then it's probably safe to assume that the bio site copied text from here. Sorry but I don't have time to investigate further right now. Maybe some editors familiar with this article will be able to shed some light on things. -- Trevj (talk) 15:35, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think there's no question that the external website has copied from wikipedia. It has all the hallmarks of a wikipedia page. It's not, after all, her official website. If we wanted to check whether it's a mirror site, we could try changing the wikipedia article and see what happens. Deb (talk) 17:37, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's not an actual mirror - it was created in 2009 and does not reflect later changes. But I agree that it's a copy. I've placed the backwardscopy template at the top of the page with evidence and thanks to your note changed my assertion that it was the official site. According to GoDaddy, it's actually registered to a Philip Maher of Denver Colorado who, by his email is this guy. If any of the people who developed significant content in this article want to take up the copyright infringement, he'd be your go-to guy, or his designated agent. See WP:Mirrors. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:27, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You've taught me a few things there. I didn't even realise they were under an obligation to acknowledge us. Deb (talk) 13:27, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ellis Island[edit]

I have added her performance in Ellis Island, it has linked to the former immigration station rather than mini series. I'm a first time editor how do I change it? Angryped (talk) 18:36, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello A. A disambiguation was needed. I fixed it with this edit. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 19:51, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deathly Hallows[edit]

Was she in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010)? This film has recently been removed from the filmography, and there's no mention of her in the cast list on the film's own article, or on IMDB. But we still mention it in the lede, and again in the body of the article; and we cite a (not-very-reliable) source at n. 8 which reports her appearing as a wedding guest. Maybe her appearance was cut, or maybe it was too fleeting to get into cast lists. I don't know the answer, but we need to be consistent. It certainly doesn't seem worth mentioning in the lede. Eric Pode lives (talk) 12:40, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct Eric Pode lives. As you've brought it to other editors attention please feel free to remove it. Even if a source is ever found that does show she was in the film the info does not belong in the lede. Thanks for your post. MarnetteD|Talk 16:58, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK: I have now deleted both mentions of the film, pending the discovery of new information. Eric Pode lives (talk) 18:21, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
