I removed the deletion proposal as Casetti appears clearly notable. Anyone thinking about expanding or revising the article could perhaps look at: Giuliana Muscio & Roberto Zemignan, "Francesco Casetti and Italian Film Semiotics", Cinema Journal, Vol. 30, No. 2. (Winter, 1991), pp. 23-46. It is on Jstor. That's just what I found with a quick search; I'm sure there are plenty of other sources, especially in Italian. They will be disappointed that there is nothing biographical about him on JSTOR. All the 21 results I got searching for his full name in quotes were reviews of his writings, and nothing about the person. Resurgent insurgent 12:26, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So what's your point? He is an academic – his writings are presumably what makes him interesting. As for his various academic positions, there is nothing contentious about that kind of information that makes it necessary to remove it. It can just be sourced to his official web page at the university (I haven't checked that the CV or bibliography there agrees in detail with the stuff that was removed but I assume it does). We have no source for his birth date or birth place - basic information which should be part of any biography. Without sources, the information could be made up - unsourced information is as unreliable as outright false information. Resurgent insurgent 13:45, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He was born in Trento (Italy) on April 2, 1947. His book "L'occhio del Novecento" has recently been translated into English as "Eye of the century". His official web page is http://www.francescocasetti.net (it has an English version where everybody can check his CV). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.60.88.50 (talk) 15:33, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
