Hastings of Hastings[edit]

R J Beevor's 1931 compilation - Hastings of Hastings does not entirely agree with this account. 1. Born - Dublin. 2. Birth - 7th Dec. 3. Governor of India - 18 Nov 1812 to 1822. 4. Hastings surname adopted - 1790 5. Titles created - 13 Feb 1817. 6. Governorship of India - 18th Nov 1812. 7. Gurkha war declared - Nov 1814. 8. Tenure as Governor ended in 1822.

Can someone confirm or discount these details? Rosser Gruffydd 19:43, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Place names[edit]

Rather than scattering places named for him through the account, I put them together under Legacy, which is common for bios.Parkwells (talk) 14:40, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Name changes[edit]

For readers not as familiar with aristocratic practices, it can be confusing to follow the account with changing references to his name. Could Rawdon be used primarily, and put other styles, such as Moira, in parentheses? That way name changes in time could be accounted for, but the subject still be clear.Parkwells (talk) 14:40, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Army Strengths[edit]

The first section addressing Hastings's time as Governor General in India discusses the relative strength of British Army and EIC Army forces in India, and lists the number of regiments and native cavalry in service in the latter's Bengal and Madras Armies. However, it does not mention the small Bombay Army. When someone has time they should remedy this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.53.11.51 (talk) 21:48, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
