Copyediting still needed[edit]

I don't understand why the copyedit notice was removed today. The article still contains ungrammatical English (e.g. "His sole purpose...was to exploiting..." and "to send go south"); psychological mind-reading rather than encyclopedic objectivity (e.g. "His sole purpose...was..."); and vague references (e.g. "Their demands were so important that some people were forced to..."). The article is still very much in need of copyediting by someone who knows both the historically documented facts and idiomatic English. Kotabatubara (talk) 16:46, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am still waiting for the competent copyeditor that I wished for two years ago. I could make grammatical corrections myself (such as replacing "was to exploiting" with "was to exploit"), but that sentence has problems more serious than grammar: (1) "His sole purpose" cannot be known unless he himself stated it. How is this idea recorded in history? (2) In the phrases "for Hispanic settlers" and "for the Amerindians", "for" suggests "for the benefit of". Did FMB exploit one on behalf of the other, or exploit both? Were there non-Hispanic settlers during his tenure? Who has knowledge about this, and from what sources? The two sources cited are inadequate: #1 is a link to a page that no longer exists ("Error 404"). #2 is to a page of a book that is accessible through Google Books, but there is only one sentence that mentions FMB. Hi! The reference that give you "Error" is fixed. --Isinbill (talk) 02:59, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Appointed/installed[edit]

Our source (Hendricks, probably echoing Scholes) says he departed Mexico City in July but didn't arrive in New Mexico until November. I presume he was appointed before he left Mexico City, but only started acting as governor in November. We don't want to say he was appointed in November.
