Another Frank Coe collaborated with Forrest J Ackerman (the founder of science fiction fandom best remembered as the editor of the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland) on an album titled Music for Robots in the 1960s. Made for children, side one consists of Ackerman speaking about the history of robots in films accompanied by weird electronic sound effects and “music” by Coe, and side two consists of more of Coe’s effects and music (without Ackerman) in a long piece titled “Tone Tales for Tomorrow.” The vinyl album was sold through the “Captain Company” merchandise mail order pages of magazines published by James Warren, including Famous Monsters. The only other thing I know about this Frank Coe is purely anecdotal unless someone can verify it, because Ackerman was a close friend of mine and told me that Coe had provided the music for at least a few porn films made in the 1970s.
