New info, relation to Six Mile Run[edit]

There has been a lot of new info added to this article, but it is completely unsourced. Also, is this really the same place as Six Mile Run? There is a separate article for that community. USGS GNIS shows Six Mile Run to be at 40°27′27″N 74°30′42″W / 40.4576050°N 74.5115429°W / 40.4576050; -74.5115429 while it shows Franklin Park at 40°26′20″N 74°32′07″W / 40.4389943°N 74.5351547°W / 40.4389943; -74.5351547. The community now called Franklin Park was originally known as Six Mile Run. The problem is that there is also a stream (http://www.thewatershed.org/wm_category1_lvl2.php?id=C0_163_135), a church (http://www.sixmilerun.org), a State and National Register Historic District (http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/NJ/Somerset/districts.html, http://service.govdelivery.com/docs/NJSOMER/NJSOMER_74/NJSOMER_74_20070322_145100_en.pdf, http://www.preservationnj.org/ten_most/ten_most_property_detail.asp?COUNTY=Somerset+County&PropID=6), a formerly proposed reservoir site and a section of the D&R Canal State Park (http://www.dandrcanal.com/interest.html#sixmile) with the same name. The coordinates used for the Six Mile Run, New Jersey article actually point to an area of Franklin Township known as Blackwells Mills (see further discussion below). The access point to the Six Mile Run Reservoir section of the D&R Canal State Park is close by as is the former Park Main Office once located in the F. Blackwell House on Canal Road so may be the reason that point was chosen. There is a Wikipedia article on Six Mile Run Reservoir Site which is OK but I feel the Six Mile Run, New Jersey article needs to be redone to correct and clarify what Six Mile Run refers to. Like many communities in this area including the villages of Kingston, Blackwells Mills, Griggstown, and Rocky Hill, Franklin Park straddles a division between local governments. In the case of Kingston and Franklin Park, which both grew up along a very early road, Route 27, which serves as the division line between Middlesex and Somerset Counties, the properties are part of Middlesex County or Somerset County municipalities depending on what side of the road they happen to be on. Kingston, Rocky Hill, Blackwells Mills, and Griggstown are divided into different local governments by the Millstone River. The census-designated place known as Kingston is mapped in Middlesex County but the "village" of Kingston is an unincorporated area of three separate local communities, South Brunswick, Franklin Township and Princeton Township in the counties of Middlesex, Somerset, and Mercer respectively. I live in Franklin Park (and lived in nearby North Brunswick for over 50 years) and I can attest that no part of Franklin Park is in North or South Brunswick, Middlesex County. It's all in Franklin Township, Somerset County. 2008homes (talk) 01:06, 10 June 2009 (UTC) 2008homes[reply]
