Brooklyn Bridge[edit]

In addition, see this website Lower Manhattan Necrology, going over what Lower Manhattan used to look like. Franklin Square is placed dead-on with the Brooklyn Bridge. Choor monster (talk) 11:34, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And as further evidence, see the articles on Pearl and Cherry Street, linked to in the article. They explain that Cherry Street used to extend much further west than it does today, but that part was torn up. Meanwhile, Pearl Street pretty much is still all there, with a kink at the place where it met Cherry Street. So if you look at Google Maps (link is in article), you'll see that's right where the Brooklyn Bridge is. Also note the Cherry Street Article mentions the explicit street address of the Presidential Mansion I mentioned in the article (you know, because you've read all my references, correct?): it's 3 Cherry Street. Now look at Google Maps for Cherry Street, passing under the Manhattan Bridge. Note carefully the street numbers along Cherry Street. They run in the 100s and 200s. If you move the map one black west to the no-longer-existing 000s on the no-longer-existing part of Cherry Street, you end up under the Brooklyn Bridge. The 3 Cherry Street location, Walter Franklin's old mansion, is next door to the Brooklyn Bridge, OK? Choor monster (talk) 11:49, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Map added[edit]

An 1885 map of the Franklin Square area, with the "[approach] to Brooklyn Bridge" (go to the link to see the original map), running right over Franklin Square has been added. You can see the three-way intersection of Pearl, Dover, and Cherry Streets, and the location of the Harper's building very clearly. Choor monster (talk) 15:39, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
