(No) confusion over his names[edit]

The statement Franz Xaver Oberleitner is identified in some sources as "Andreas Oberleitner" is misleading – he is identified as Andreas in more or less all sources apart from Wurzbach's Biographisches Lexikon des Kaiserthums Oesterreich, as this was his official name as of his entry into the Schottenstift in 1807 (thus for his entire professional lifetime). Lacking other such sources, Wurzbach is a very valuable source for biographies of the 19th century, but not always 100 percent accurate resp. reliable. Obviously, the fact that he had a brother also called Andreas might be confusing but is irrelevant for the subsequent identification.

The German language Wikipedia has not picked up on this ... respecting the conflicting sources, it has given Oberleitners undebatable official name after his name change in 1807 and in brackets, in accordance with the German language Wikipedia naming conventions, his birth name. In accordance with the English Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people)#Nicknames, pen names, stage names, cognomens this article should therefore be titled Andreas Oberleitner, not Franz Xaver Oberleitner.
