This page reads like an essay, and needs pictures. Also, a mention + picture of Optimus Prime / Convoy and Ultra Magnus would be nice. --BlueNight 17:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now that Daimler has sold Chrysler, does Chrysler still own Freghtliner, or did Daimler keep it??? In any case, this page needs to be updated, as DaimlerChrysler no longer exists.

Nope, Freightliner was purchased by Daimler-Benz in 1981, it had nothing to do with Chrysler until Daimler purchased Chrysler. Freightliner makes Daimler too much money to be sold off by Daimler anyway. ChocolateJew 02:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

I thought that Consolidated started Freightliner in order to make cab over tractors which the established builders did not see a market for. Saltysailor (talk) 19:09, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

Freightliner LLCFreightliner — Propose we move this article to Freightliner, drop the LLC part that his out of date. ~ WikiDon (talk) 04:59, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree this this article needs to be renamed and rewritten. What does LLC stands for anyway?Stonufka (talk) 12:18, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LLC: Limited Liability Company (or Corporation), would be like putting INC. or LTD. or S.A. after every company/corporation article in Wikipedia. LLC's are basically a way to shelter the liability of the company for its owners (usually just a handful of stake/shareholders) from any major debts ("liability" i.e. whose liable) that might occur. ~ WikiDon (talk) 17:57, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Freightliner is current a dabpage. Any recommendations for a solution? JPG-GR (talk) 03:10, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Make a new page: Freightliner (disambiguation). ~ WikiDon (talk) 04:16, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS: There is a second choice: Freightliner Trucks
Freightliner trucks is probably more elegant ("trucks" to follow wikipedia naming guidelines per WP:NAME) and no disambiguation page is needed either. Stonufka (talk) 13:05, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(if you use this one: "Trucks", capital "T", go to their website and look at their legal info, they use Freightliner Trucks. It is legal brand name. 4.240.165.212 (talk) 01:02, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I agree with WikiDon: there should be a dab page Freightliner (disambiguation), and this page should be renamed Freightliner, as it is certainly the most notable sense of the word, and anyone wanting to read about Freightliner trucks is sure to simply type "Freightliner". I agree that the prose of this article is problematic and the article is badly in need of cleanup, but that is a separate issue. Wilhelm meis (talk) 23:04, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've done this as there seems to be no opposition to it here. There are a couple of disambiguation things I have to do, but apart from that it should all be OK. Please let me know on my talk page if I've made a mistake. Cheers, Alex Muller 11:56, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re-move[edit]

It is my intention/proposal to (re-)move this article to Freightliner Trucks or Freightliner (truck) (existing redirects). This is to distinguish the vehicle manufacturer (a division of Daimler AG) from a European rail-freight operator (Freightliner (UK))—and to restore the disambiguity page (at Freightliner (disambiguation)) to the bare "Freightliner" link. By turnover, the rail freight operator (a former division of British Railways) is about 150th of the size[fl 1]; however, the trucked-related use is US-centric; approximately one third of the incoming links appear to be railway related—I will do a first run-through to fix all the links, but the restored disambig can catch future misdirected links. The bold section in the lead currently uses Freightliner Trucks, so it may be more appropriate to move this to that variation. —Sladen (talk) 22:10, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  1. ^ "Corporate Financial". Freightliner (UK). Retrieved 2008-12-09. Annual group turnover in excess of £230m (€321m)

Follow-up, I've completed the first pass and all truck-related article (should) now be using Freightliner Trucks, Freightliner (truck) or Freightliner LLC. —Sladen (talk) 13:35, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Freightliner Sprinter no more?[edit]

The statement "The Freightliner badge also adorns the Sprinter, a Class 2 van produced by Mercedes-Benz in Europe and marketed through Freightliner dealers, as well as through Chrysler dealers as a Dodge-branded offering." may be incoorect/out of date.

The official Freightliner Sprinter website (put up 2004) at http://www.fl-sprinter.com/ no longer has any Freightliner Sprinter info. Instead it is a clone of http://www.z-atlas.com/ -- a medical website. Did they abandon or sell the domain name? There is no mention of the Sprinter anywhere on http://www.freightlinertrucks.com/ either. The Wayback machine at http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.fl-sprinter.com/ shows the last snapshot with Freightliner Sprinter info at July 5th 2008.

Worse. The Dodge Sprinter is defunct. In an attempt to avoid leaving the cargo van market completely, Ram now sells the "Ram Cargo Van" which is really a stripped down Caravan. Because of that, I have to wonder if Freightliner became part of the "new" Chrysler or remained with Daimler AG. Will (Talk - contribs) 07:04, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Daimler Trucks North America?[edit]

How come I'm being redirected from Daimler Trucks North America to Freightliner Trucks? The latter may be the most important part of the former, but it is far from the only one (Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, Detroit Diesel, ...)! Apart from that, DTNA (the official abbreviation of the company) does not even exist in the wiki. --ComradeMicha (talk) 09:53, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Where is North Basin Street?[edit]

The article refers to North Basin Street, but there is no indication where this place is located. 68.42.169.85 (talk) 02:50, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Legal controversy – original research?[edit]

The link between the Cascadia legal controversies and Tesla's Guillen seems rather tenuous and smells of WP:OR. Could someone better versed in Wikipedia standards than me please take a look? 2A02:810A:B80:13E0:4ECC:6AFF:FEF8:6777 (talk) 19:19, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, shouldn't such a section be further towards the end of the article anyways? 2A02:810A:B80:13E0:4ECC:6AFF:FEF8:6777 (talk) 19:20, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the section in question for now since it implies an accusation that is mentioned nowhere in the cited sources and even if it was, I'm not sure the sources are reliable enough to not fall foul of WP:BLP.

Government mandates[edit]

I think if you want some really good free advertisement you need to support the truckers right now with these mandates 2600:8801:2E80:8DD:68D4:9D5:82DF:CEDF (talk) 17:19, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
