Quarterback[edit]

From the front page (April 17, 2019): "... that Fritz Pollard (pictured) became the NFL's first black quarterback in 1923, but it was not until 2017 that all 32 modern NFL teams had started at least one black quarterback?" This page never mentions him playing quarterback, only halfback in college and running back professionally. Does anyone have a source on when and for which team he played quarterback, please? 8.19.241.10 (talk) 15:27, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Removal from NFL[edit]

We need a reference for this:

"Pollard, along with all nine of the black players in the NFL at the time, were removed from the league at the end of the 1926 season, never to return again."

First, the number nine is not consistent with the NFL 1927 season article (which claims five).

Second, its not clear that the NFL "removed" the black players. (Actually, it is fairly unlikely considering how independent the franchises were at the time.) If that occurred, a reference is desperately needed. The collapse of roughly 60% of the NFL and AFL franchises from 1926 provides a plausible alternative to a deliberate purge. The return of black players in 1928 also suggests this.

I am making no edits at this time. It would be nice if whoever wrote this originally could simply add a reference. 50.14.78.218 (talk) 19:06, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
