This instruction is not used by GCC because it sets up the stack frame slightly differently - it swaps the last two instructions of the prologue.

The following paragraphs show the methods to be functionally equivalent, so this doesn't really answer why GCC does what it does (I've edited the sentence accordingly). This leaves the question: why then does it do what it does? Shinobu 16:05, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
