Kiev Time[edit]

Further-eastern European Time is not just Kiev Time. Ukraine joined FET after decision to cancel DST and so after that Kiev Time joined the FET time zone. Neologism?[edit]

Could someone provide a reliable source, preferably from before 8 October (so that we can be sure that it's not Wikipedia-derived), for the use of the term "Further-eastern European Time" please? Pfainuk talk 08:20, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This source from Sep 21 says, autotranslated from Russian: in connection with the accession to the Council of Ministers Council of Ukraine in Belarus in a matter of time, three territories (Minsk, Kiev, Kaliningrad) now have the time zone of GMT +3. To discuss with the release of tzdata 2011j (will be released next Monday), we were unable to agree to specific zones of convenient notation. EEST will be confusion, especially in border areas, since all the Baltic countries and Finland are in EET / EEST and denote the constant zone abbreviation Summer Time nekomilfo. Coming up with some names for the same area on three areas of meaning is not enough. Therefore, a compromise was the choice of the name following the EET (East European Time) - FET (Further-eastern European Time), Дальневосточное Европейское время.
