Merge tag[edit]

i just removed the merger tag. if i shouldn't have done so i apologize. the article should be an article, as it is about the bus and not ken kesey. the bus is still here and ken kesey isn't, furthur festival was named after the bus, etc. --Heah (talk) 05:43, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Added a link to a Seattle Times article on Furthur's restoration to clear up the unverified statement problem. Also elaborated slightly on the status of the restoration --improbcat 9:08EST 11/26/06

The idea of a bus being a hallucinogen is rather bemusing, not sure that this is the right stub category though. Do we have a Category:Drug culture? Smerdis of Tlön 13:44, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect amount of money paid? I'm reading The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test right now, and Wolfe states "Kesey bought it for $1,500---in the name of Intrepid Trips, Inc." Is there a citation for the $1,250 figure?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.225.224.216 (talkcontribs)

If you have a referenced source, then feel free to add it to the article. Let me know if you need help. -- Mikeblas 22:47, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two of the photos are not of the original bus[edit]

Are there any photos of the original bus available? I guess the p[ictures of the second bus will do, but the first one is really the most historical and significant Further. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.8.104.87 (talk) 00:06, 20 September 2009‎ (UTC) [reply]

Proposed merge of Further (bus) with Furthur (bus)[edit]

It looks to me as if Further (bus) and Furthur (bus) are about the same vehicle. Is this correct? If so, these two pages should be merged.

On the other hand, if these are two separate vehicles, I still think they should be on the same page. Perhaps this page could have separate sections for each of the buses, and a much shorter introductory section that mentions that there were multiple buses and explains that only the first of them was spelled with two U's?

One interesting fact: the disambiguation page Furthur includes a link to Further (bus), but not to Furthur (bus). — Lawrence King (talk) 03:22, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Definite merge needed. The other article was only created in Jan 2013. This article already discusses the two buses that shared the name, and the inconsistent spelling used in the placard of the 1st bus. –Quiddity (talk) 03:30, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This is Zane Kesey, Ken's son. BOTH buses were named BOTH ways (Furthur AND Further)The original would change names occasionally, the second bus is labeled Further on the front and Furthur on the back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zanekesey (talkcontribs) 08:33, 5 September 2013‎ (UTC) [reply]

Furthur (bus) is completely uncited so would be hard to integrate. It was apparently create b/c it wasn't a redirect here? I propose that it should be deleted and this article be moved to that location, as of the inconsistent naming, we should go with the unique name rather than the close English word. "bloody brilliant"?[edit]

I'm removing the words "bloody brilliant" from the section on the Smithsonian prank. Obviously it goes against Wikipedia's NPOV policy. Elsquared (talk) 04:59, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

move to Furthur?[edit]

The two spellings are used inconsistently in the article, and the alternate spelling is, in my understanding, the better known term, plus it is easier to find as it is not a regular English word requiring a disambiguator. I saw a discussion on a merge of two similar articles with these two spellings, but no other discussion of moving it. I welcome feedback here, if no objection I will do it in a week. Cheers, JesseRafe (talk) 14:50, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be in favor of renaming the article to "Furthur (bus)". I'm under the impression that the Merry Pranksters' bus is (and was) known by both names -- Furthur and Further -- but is more commonly known as Furthur. As far as the name of the article, "Furthur" is already a disambiguation page, and rightfully so, therefore "Furthur (bus)" would be the way to go, in my view. Note that this article was called "Furthur", years ago, and renamed here. Another thing: If "Furthur (bus)" is agreeable, then this will have to be submitted to Wikipedia:Requested moves. You won't be able to move the article yourself, because "Furthur (bus)" is a redirect with a change history. Mudwater (Talk) 22:48, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, didn't look that far back. That move was probably done to make the space for the Grateful Dead spinoff band of the same name which came into existence just a few weeks prior in September 2009. Will request the move by week's end. JesseRafe (talk) 19:52, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Requested just now, FYI. JesseRafe (talk) 18:44, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
