Notability ?[edit]

Who put that notability template?

If you search for "linux bgp route server", "linux ospf", "linux bgp daemon", etc. All have zebra-related post on the first page.

Although Quagga (Software) is newer and better, zebra is still very popular. Just check any network operator mail list will show this. 59.148.232.130 (talk) 07:13, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The notability template was added in July 2010 by M4gnum0n, according to the history.

It doesn't matter much of Quagga (Software) is newer and better, because Quagga is the continuation of development of Zebra. Because the vast majority of the design and much of the code of Quagga comes from Zebra, that clearly makes Zebra notable, in the same way that the Xerox Alto is notable for leading to more popular windowing systems, despite being an otherwise extremely rare and little used computer.

Zebra no longer being developed[edit]

Looking at the GNU page is says that Zebra is no longer being developed, and that the Zebra domain is dead. What's the best method of putting this information into the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xphill64x (talk • contribs) 05:33, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what the best method is, but I've added an {About} tag on the header linking to the article for the direct successor that continued development from this software's code base. If that's reasonable by Wikipedia standards (I'm a bit of a novice here), this entire chat section can be deleted.
