    I have reviewed this article and cross-referenced the article with the references listed.  Everything stated in the article agrees with the listed references, however I noticed that there were a few statements that need references.  Those statements are the following:

In the Introduction[edit]

  • "The functional role of galanin remains largely unknown; however, galanin is predominantly involved in the modulation and inhibition of action potentials in neurons."
  • "Galanin appears to have neuroprotective activity as its biosynthesis is increased 2-10 fold upon axotomy in the peripheral nervous system as well as when seizure activity occurs in the brain."

In the Tissue Distribution section[edit]

  • "Within the central nervous system, highest concentrations are found in the hypothalamus, with lower levels in the cortex and brainstem. In the hypothalamus, it is for example found in the ventrolateral preoptic nucleus where it has sleep-promoting function."
